![]() I really wonder whether it is possible to get the old plug out and a new (normal of Dorman) one in with engine and backplate still in situ, this location is VERY difficult to reach block I got was changed with an extra bolt on the engine backplate by my MG mech, see my drawing. If the rear plug is till in situ you can try to fabricate a kind of Betson bolt solution without the need to take the engine and backplate out and hope this will stop the leakage.
